Paloma Community Church is a merger of two Mesa churches of like faith that shared a common vision and mission to reach out to our community. The main common denominator between the two was a desire to meet a real need within the community. Jesus said, "I did not come to be served, but to serve."
Since southeast Mesa is an area of future growth in our community, it was determined the church would begin there. The acquisition of 22.5 acres of land on Sossaman Road gave us the necessary tool to begin planning how we would meet a real need and build a bridge to impact our community in service.
During the transition period of the merger between the two churches, the name "Paloma Community Church" emerged as the obvious name for this new congregation because it is not only spiritually descriptive (the name Paloma means "dove" in Spanish), but it would also identify us with the immediate community we would be located in since Paloma Avenue was originally plotted to continue directly through our property to Sossaman Road. (The completion of the road was abandoned by the Mesa City Council in 2005 as a result of Paloma Community Church petitioning the city to do so. This gave us the best opportunity to execute our mission at this particular location.
Our vehicle of connection is Paloma Sports Outreach. PSO's mission, vision, and context of service is:
